How we score each table

Every restaurant in the guide is visited in person. We score the full experience, not just the plate in front of us, using eight weighted criteria. The weights reflect how much each dimension shapes a memorable night out; together they inform the overall score you see on each listing.

Higher weights mean that criterion carries more influence on the final assessment. The numbers are editorial constants across the guide so comparisons stay consistent from one venue to the next.

  • Venue
    Weight
    80 / 100

Evaluates the quality of the space, its layout, cleanliness, and overall presentation. A well-considered setting establishes the tone before the meal begins.

  • Table Settings
    Weight
    60 / 100

Assesses the quality and care of the tableware, linen, and mise en place. These details reveal the attention given to the dining experience.

  • Ambiance
    Weight
    80 / 100

Covers lighting, acoustics, music, and atmosphere. Ambiance shapes how the evening feels and how naturally guests settle into the experience.

  • Location
    Weight
    80 / 100

Evaluates the restaurant’s location, accessibility, and relationship with its surroundings. The right position can become an integral part of the experience.

  • Service
    Weight
    95 / 100

Assesses the attentiveness, knowledge, and warmth of the front-of-house team. The best service feels precise, natural, and attuned to the table.

  • Punctuality
    Weight
    55 / 100

Measures the timing of the meal, from being seated to the arrival of each course and the bill. Good pacing respects the guest’s time without making the experience feel rushed.

  • Food
    Weight
    100 / 100

Evaluates the quality, creativity, consistency, and presentation of dishes. This is the core of the experience and carries the highest weight in the final score.

  • Value for Money
    Weight
    90 / 100

Assesses whether the experience as a whole feels justified by its price. Value is not simply about spending less, but about what the evening delivers in return.
